A glass of Frappato and the menu at Osteria Savio Volpe

A decade ago, the east Vancouver neighborhood now known as Fraserhood was mostly known for its Pho restaurants and cheap rents. But in 2007, Andreas Seppelt opened the French bistroLes Faux Bourgeois, and it became an instant hit. Chic coffee shops, co-working spaces, bars, and more restaurants (including the fabulous Osteria Savio Volpe, with its sexy vibe and handmade pastas) soon followed. In fact, this once-gritty area now has reputation as an emerging foodie enclave, anchored on one end by Bow & Arrow’s only Vancouver café, and on the other by one of the best restaurants in the city. Here, our shortlist of the best spots.
